Fazeel scored twice but missed this one, a penalty

Male', MALDIVES - VB Sports has thrashed Vyansa by 5 -1 in Dhiraagu Dhivehi League match played yesterday. Vyansa who came out to the field to get a point to ascertain a front position in the league table were pushed back by the super star side. Their main power house in the defensive department, Saudhulla Kamaal was suspended for the match for previous two yellow cards.

VB's first goal was scored in the 27th minute by Eugene. Ali Umar's cross was beautifully met by Eugene and keeper had no chance of saving the ball.

VB's second goal came from Ahmed Firaz Moosa. Vyansa's defenders left him thinking that he was offside. But he calmly netted the goal.

VB's third and the last goal in the first half came from their defender Niyaz.

VB got a golden opportunity to score in the early stages of the second half when they were awarded a penalty. But Ibrahim Fazeel's  penalty was saved superbly by Vyansa's keeper.

But Ibrahim Fazeel managed to come back and netted VB's fourth goal of the day. Vyansa also scored a consolation goal from a free kick. The goal was scored by Kofi Debrah.

Ibrahim Fazeel who was selected as the man of the match scored his hat-rick in the 75th minute.

After the match, VB's coach Carlos Cavagnaro said that it was a tough game, but the preparation of his players made the day successful

'We knew that they would highly mark our strikers so, we just prepared for this game based on that"

He also answered critics on his star players

"Many of the fans criticized me for the low performance of our key players like Ali Umar and Oppo, but now they back on the track and I am satisfied with that."

Meanwhile, Vyansa's coach Nizam said that his boys gave VB the lead and then wasted the chances they got

He also highlighted that his boys still need to improve their standard

"We still need to improve our standard, but today also we played good football and I am satisfied with that."
